HAVE FUN PRACTICING YOUR POTTERY SKILLS

After a warm welcome into the Art and Craft Centre, the experience begins with a quick tour and presentation of pottery as intangible cultural heritage and interesting traditional products we make.

We will briefly teach you about the production process and demonstrate throwing on the pottery wheel and basic hand-building techniques. Then it's your turn to get hands-on and have fun practicing your pottery skills!

Depending on your preference, you will make your very own ceramic product on the wheel or by hand. An experienced mentor will assist you throughout the creative process.

You may take the piece home, as is, or wait for us to bisque, glaze, and high-fire it for you. The finished product can be picked up a few weeks later, or shipped if you prefer.

Clay is spontaneous and playful, whilst at the same time demanding material. It teaches us to develop noble qualities such as patience and resilience.

Come and see our art and create some of your own as well!

More information about the experience: The Art and Craft Centre Slovenska Bistrica was founded in 2003 under the Phare cross-border cooperation programme. Through the project, we arranged and equipped a ceramic studio in the manor house Slovenska Bistrica and trained mentors for teaching ceramics at the Austrian school Ortweinschule Graz. In 2014, the Centre was registered as social enterprise Handicraft Cooperative and as a member of the Consortium of Crafts centres of Slovenia. Wear comfortable clothing and footwear that you don't mind getting dirty!
More information about the experience provider: The activity of the Centre is based on the preservation of cultural heritage, the transfer of traditional handicraft skills and traditions to the younger generations as well as the development and promotion of modern products. We see our mission in developing artistic creativity and education, and ensuring active spending of free time and enriching the quality of life of all generations. We organize various exhibitions, events, workshops and courses on clay creation for children and adults.
